Merry Missions! Ways to Impact Sumner this Holiday Season

This special (2020) holiday season calls for a heavy dose of neighborly love. Please share your gifts, HFUMC!

Here's how you can help…

  1. Shalom Zone Underwear & Socks Drive for Kids - HFUMC is collecting small packages of new underwear (kids sizes toddler to 14-16) for the Shalom Zone. You can bring these items to church and place them in the collection bins by the welcome center or by the church office. OR, we’ll do the shopping for you! If it’s easier, you can donate money by texting* "HFUMC Shalom" to 73256 to give using your mobile device. Or you can send a check with “Shalom” in the subject line to HFUMC. All donations are due by Sunday, November 29.
  2. Christmas4kids - This is the annual tour bus operation you might be familiar with that typically hosts a huge shopping spree at Walmart for families in need. This year, due to COVID-19, volunteers are doing the shopping for the kids. And by “volunteers,” we mean YOU (along with other community members)! Community members will be shopping Dec. 7 and Dec. 8. Learn more and sign-up here.

We also to share that this year, in lieu of toys for their Toys for Tots program, Fort Campbell requested our help in covering holiday meals. Because of your generous giving this year, HFUMC has already been able to send a generous donation to support this worthy cause. Thank you for continuing to support our efforts to Impact Sumner County and beyond!

*This number will never send unsolicited texts to you. To cancel further messages, text STOP. If you need assistance with text giving, text HELP. Standard text message and data rates may apply.

Giving and Helping During COVID-19

We are a church that wants to use what God has given us to care for others. While the world may be hard, we know our work increases hope and awareness of God’s presence. We are grateful, and we want to be a part of something much greater than ourselves.

COVID-19 Ways to Help

1) Make Medical Masks for Local Hospitals:

Beginning this week, we will have a labeled collection bin for medical masks under the carport by the atrium entrance. There are simple sewing instructions online including retail sites such as Joann Fabrics (https://www.joann.com/make-to-give-response/). If you are able to sew, we hope you’ll consider supporting this effort!

2) Give to the HFUMC Covid-19 Fund:

This specified fund will support our frontlines and the most vulnerable in our community. Community funds will be directed to agencies via the United Way of Sumner County to optimize our impact against most critical needs such as food, housing, utilities, etc. during this crisis. Please select the COVID-19 Fund in the online giving options. You can also text to give by texting HFUMC C19 to 73256.
